Which Bin Does It Go In? | Workshop with Plastic Free Gold Coast, Botanical Bazaar and Edible Landscape Garden Projects

  • Karma Collab Hub 47 Lemana Lane Miami Australia (map)

Plastic Free Gold Coast presents the 2019 Reduce Your Impact Workshop Series. On a monthly basis we will deliver workshops to gradually upskill the community to a more sustainable and plastic free lifestyle. Held at Karma Collab, a co working space and community hub with eco values and a green heart.

“Which Bin Does It Go In?” Workshop

By now you’re aware of plastic pollution and the effects it has on our health and the environment, and you’ve made changes to your lifestyle to start refusing and reducing it. But what do you do with all the plastic you have in your household already, how do you dispose of it? And how can you improve your workplaces environmental impact? If you can’t reuse, repurpose or repair it, then it’s time to recycle or ROT.

This workshop will be broken down into two parts. We will cover the Gold Coast Council Red, Green and Yellow bin system and what you can and can’t put into each one. We will also explain Redcycle, Terracycle and Containers for Change programs that are available to us on the coast. Then we will talk about COMPOSTING systems for your home and how you can contribute to community composting. Turning food scraps and organic garden waste into compost not only improves soil quality but dramatically reduces the amount of organic waste going to landfill therefore preventing greenhouse gas emissions.

We’ll have Stacey Panozzo from Botanical Bazaar and Jorge Cantellano from Edible Scapes on hand to help answer any questions you might have about recycling and composting, as well as some giveaways!
